Just a little clarification before i begin - the "yesterday" and "today" on monday's post are referring to monday and tuesday respectively. i hope nobody was blur enough to think i went to school on sunday.

now on to the post. i think, in some ways, i'm lucky to be in 1T20. everyone seems nice enough, even though some people may look rather unfriendly. but i think we all need a little more time to warm up to each other. but it's been a great start so far. everyone seems extremely enthusiastic and that normally makes it better.
after attending the introductory lectures for the various subjects (except GP and chinese), i have concluded that we have a pretty good group of tutors. our econs teachers are really attitude-y, and physics is too lame to be true. and what a coincidence!! they are my weakest subjects. well, at least econs is. i didn't do physics earlier on. hopefully they can inspire me enough to improve, and keep to my resolution of maintaining a B average throughout the year.

right now, i'm in a bit of a tight spot. haven't been able to get the uniform yet, and the next earliest time i can get it is tomorrow at 10. but here's the problem - i need it tomorrow at 7:40. oh boy. it's going to be pretty embarassing if those un-uniformed people get singled out. oh dear. not a very impressive start to the academic year.

i'm supposed to go and support the bowlers tomorrow at victor's. but i don't know what time my class ends. if any bowler reads this, please try to make it to victor's tomorrow (friday) by 3:30 pm. and if anyome from the 1st intake's 1T37 reads this, we're supposed to have a class dinner tomorrow at the heeren. that's all for me today. have to go off soon.

Yesterday

It's very very disheartening when a JC calls to tell you you've been rejected. it's less disheartening, but sad nonetheless, when a JC doesn't call at all. but when a JC finally calls, you find that the wait (and the many hours spent agonizing over the results of your appeal) was worth it.

in summary, VJ and AJ both rejected. i hate them. CJ accepted. looks like my displacement for JCs is 0. and i'm finally getting out of SAJC. it's become better than my first impression, but i still can't accept being called a saint. jaywalking, littering scum of society are not saints.

to quickly wrap up, i acknowledge the fact that some people in CJC will not be happy to see me back there, but what's done is done. i'm back there to stay. hopefully nobody is too sad about it, because if they are, too bad.

Today

CJC's orientation was fun as usual, but i think maybe holding it at sentosa might not have been such a good idea, with the heavy rain and all. but nevertheless, we all had a good time, and that's all that matters.

oh yes. before i forget, i'm now in 1T20. nice number. chem, physics, maths, econs. hopefully i can make up for lost time in physics. don't think it'll be too difficult though, seeing as my home tutor's a physics teacher. once again, lady luck smiles on me. also, i think i'm a little slow to get to know everybody, seeing as i missed one day of class-togetherness. but luckily (once again), the class is quickly warming up to having additional members. everyone more or less has seen each other before, considering 26/27 people were in the 1st intake, and this may have helped the quick bonding.

tomorrow's finale night. have dinner plans with the class. hopefully we can completely go nuts for one night and enjoy ourselves properly before lessons officially begin.

Wednesday, March 23, 2005

Well, i'm not exactly happy, but not exactly sad either. so what am i? more of disappointed, yet expecting the disappointment. for you see, VJ rejected my appeal. while most would expect me to be in an unstable state of mind, i'm actually quite calm. i was half-expecting it anyway. my chances really weren't that good. at least the nice lady who called up was gentle about breaking the news, instead of laughing in my face. now, all i can resolve to do is to get good a-level results and shove it in the VJ principal's face, to show her the student that she could have had.

so now, i'm just waiting for my AJ appeal result to come through. i'm (optimistically) predicting a >65% success rate. if *that* doesn't work out, i can go back to CJ. and if for some funny reason, even *THAT* fails, then i don't know what to do. probably go to IJ. or i could always quit school...

oh...in case anyone was wondering, i was posted to SAJC, which was my 4th choice. pretty sad, 8 points and being flung about by the system. ironic that i got my 1st choice for the PAE but not the JAE, especially when my prelim L1R5 was double my o-level one. then again, it's not like i really had a choice in the PAE. or maybe i did, but was too blind to see it. anyway, after being in SAJC for one day, i've realized that:

- They place EXTREMELY strong faith in the power of prayer.
- Something about the atmosphere serves as a repellant.
- Fortnightly chapel does not sit well with me.
- Their chem department looks like (and most likely will be) a total turn-off.
- They chose food chem as the paper 3 option!! not good.
- The CCAs don't exactly appeal to me.

actually, i realized most of the above in the first 2 hours. in conclusion, all these factors have led to my decision to seek for a successful transfer at all costs. furthermore, i can't imagine myself being referred to as a "saint". it doesn't suit me at all.ah well. i'm not going to lose sleep over this. i mean, it's not like i have absolutely nowhere to go.

oh yes. let me get this out of my system. i don't particularly favour using sports to get into a JC. maybe it's a case of sour grapes because i'm not good enough at any sport to apply through CCA, but well, if you get say, 14 and go to RJ or VJ, good luck. especially if you were JC-less up till march.

Monday, March 21, 2005

Guess who skipped school today? *wide grin* anyway, posting will be released tomorrow. i think that it will most likely be AJ, although seeing VJ on the screen would be a pleasant surprise.

right now, life's just passing by. nothing interesting is happening now, nor do i forsee anything interesting happening for the rest of the week (and maybe beyond).

-thingy of the day: wheeeeeeeeeeeee.-

To make up for the lack of content, here's a long lyrics post:

The Corrs - Summer Sunshine
Everyone's changing, I stay the same
I'm... a solo cello outside a chor-us
I've got a secret,
It's time for me to tell that you've been keeping me warm

Just sweet beginnings and bitter en-dings
In coffee city, we borrowed hea-ven
Don't give it back, I've never felt so wanted
Are you taking me home?

You tell me you have to go...

In the heat of summer sunshine
I miss you like nobody else
In the heat of summer sunshine
I kiss you, and nobody needs to know

Now that you've left me, there's no retur-ning
I keep comparing, you're always win-ning
I try to be strong but you'll never be more wanted
Will you make me at home?

Don't tell me you have to go...

In the heat of summer sunshine
I miss you like nobody else
In the heat of summer sunshine
I kiss you, and nobody needs to know

Ya da... ya da... ya da

To sweet beginnings and bitter en-dings
In coffee city, we borrowed hea-ven
Don't give it back
Winter is coming and I need to stay warm

The heat....

In the heat of summer sunshine
I miss you like nobody else
In the heat of summer sunshine
I kiss you, and nobody knows

In the heat of summer sunshine
I miss you like nobody else
In the heat of summer sunshine
I kiss you, and nobody needs to know

The Corrs - What Can I Do
I haven't slept at all in days
It's been so long since we've talked
And I have been here many times
I just don't know what I'm doing wrong

What can I do to make you love me?
What can I do to make you care?
What can I say to make you feel this?
What can I do to get you there?

There's only so much I can take
And I just got to let it go
And who knows I might feel better, yeah
If I don't try and I don't hope

What can I do to make you love me?
What can I do to make you care?
What can I say to make you feel this?
What can I do to get you there?

No more waiting, no more, aching...
No more fighting, no more, trying...

Maybe there's nothing more to say
And in a funny way I'm calm
Because the power is not mine
I'm just going to let it fly

What can I do to make you love me?
(What can I do to make you love me)
What can I do to make you care?
(What can I do to make you care)
What can I say to make you feel this?
(What can I do to make you love me)
What can I do to get you there?
(What can I do to make you care)

What can I do to make you love me?
(What can I do to make you love me)
What can I do to make you care?
(What can I do to make you care)
What can I change to make you feel this?
(What can I do to make you love me)
What can I do to get you there?
(What can I do to make you care)

And love me... love me...

[Fade out]

The Corrs - Breathless
Go on go on
Leave me breathless
Come on [echo...]

Hey... yeah...

The daylight's fading slowly
The time with you is standing still
I'm waiting for you only
The slightest touch and I feel weak
I cannot lie, from you I cannot hide
And I'm losin' the will to try
Can't hide it (can't hide it), can't fight it (can't fight it)

So go on, go on, come on, leave me breathless
Tempt me, tease me, until I can't deny
This loving feeling (loving feeling)
Make me long for your kiss
Go on (go on), go on (go on)
Yeah...
Come on
Yeah...

And if there's no tomorrow
And all we have is here and now
I'm happy just to have you
You're all the love I need somehow
It's like a dream
Although I'm not asleep
And I never want to wake up
Don't lose it (don't lose it), don't leave it (don't leave it)

So go on, go on, come on, leave me breathless
Tempt me, tease me, until I can't deny
This loving feeling (loving feeling)
Make me long for your kiss
Go on (go on), go on (go on)
Yeah...
Come on [echo...]

[Guitar's solo] Yeah-ie, yeah, yeah-ie, yeah...

And I can't lie
From you I cannot hide
And I've lost my will to try
Can't hide it (can't hide it), can't fight it, (can't fight it)

So go on, (go on) go on, (go on), come on, leave me breathless
Tempt me, tease me, until I can't deny
This loving feeling (loving feeling) Make me long for your kiss

Go on, (go on) go on, (go on) come on, leave... me breathless
Go on, (go on) go on, (go on) come on, leave... me breathless
Go on, (go on) go on, (go on) come on, leave... me breathless
Go on... go on!

The Corrs - Radio
It's late at night
And I'm feeling down
There're couples standing on the street
Sharing summer kisses and silly sounds

So I step inside
Pour a glass of wine
With a full glass and an empty heart
I search for something to occupy my mind

But you are in my head
Swimming forever in my head
Tangled in my dreams
Swimming forever

So listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
And all the songs we used to know, oh, oh
So listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
Remember where we used to go...

Now it's morning light
And it's cold outside
Caught up in a distant dream
I turn and think that you are by my side

So I leave my bed
And I try to dress
Wondering why my mind plays tricks
And fools me into thinking you are there

But you're just in my head
Swimming forever in my head
Not lying in my bed
Just swimming forever

So listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
And all the songs we used to know, oh, oh
So listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
Remember where we used to go...

I listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
And all the songs we used to know, oh, oh
I listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
Remember where we used to go...

You are in my head
Swimming forever in my head
Tangled in my dreams
Swimming forever
(Swimming forever)
Swimming forever

So listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
And all the songs we used to know, oh, oh
So listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
Remember where we used to go...

I listen to the radio (listen to the radio)
And all the songs we used to know, oh, oh
I listen to the radio (listen to the radio)

Lifehouse - Spin
I'd rather chase your shadow all my life
than be afraid of my own
I'd rather be with you
I'd rather not know
where I'll be than
be alone and convinced that I know

and the world keeps spinning round
my world's upside down
and I wouldn't change a thing
I've got nothing else to lose
I lost it all when I found you
and I wouldn't change a thing
no, you and I wouldn't change a thing

everything I know has let me down
so I will just let go
let you turn me inside out
cause I know I'm not sure
about anything
but you wouldn't have it any other way

and the world keeps spinning round
my world's upside down
and I wouldn't change a thing
I've got nothing else to lose
I lost it all when I found you
and I wouldn't change a thing
no, you and I wouldn't change a thing

spinning turning watching burning
all my life has found its meaning
walking crawling climbing falling
all my life has found its meaning

you and I wouldn't change a thing
no, you and I wouldn't change a thing

and the world keeps spinning round
my world's upside down
and I wouldn't change a thing
I've got nothing else to lose
I lost it all when I found you
and I wouldn't change a thing
no, you and I wouldn't change a thing
no, you and I wouldn't change a thing

Savage Garden - The Best Thing
Never want to fly
Never want to leave
Never want to say what you mean to me
Never want to run
Frightened to believe
You're the best thing about me

Sometimes I feel like this is only chemistry
Stuck in a maze searching for a way to
Shut down turn around feel the ground beneath me
You're so close where do you end where do I begin?
Always pushing and pulling
Sometimes sanity takes vacation time on me
I'm in a daze stumbling bewildered
North of gravity head up in the stratosphere
You and I roller coaster riding love
You're the center of adrenaline
And I'm beginning to understand

Never want to fly
Never want to leave
Never want to say what you mean to me
Never want to run
Frightened to believe
You're the best thing about me

Walk on broken glass make my way through fire
These are the things I would do for love
Farewell peace of mind kiss goodbye to reason
Up is down the impossible occurs each day
This intoxication thrills me
I only pray it doesn't kill me

Never want to fly
Never want to leave
Never want to say what you mean to me
Never want to run
Frightened to believe
You're the best thing about me

You're the center of adrenaline
And I'm beginning to understand
You could be the best thing about me

Never want to fly
Never want to leave
Never want to say what you mean to me
Never want to run
Frightened to believe
You're the best thing about me

You could be the best thing about me
What if you're the best thing about me?

Enrique Iglesias - Rhythm Divine
Escucha el ritmo de tu corazon (Whispered)

From the coast of Ipanema
to the Island of Capri
all the way to Kuala Lumpur
I will follow you wherever you may be

From the moment, I first saw you
Knew my heart could not be free
Had to hold you in my arms
There can never be another for me

All I need is
the rhythm divine
Lost in the music
Your heart will be mine
All I need is
to look in your eyes
Viva la musica
Say you'll be mine

Can you feel the heat of passion
Can you taste our love's sweet wine
Join the dance and let it happen
Put tomorrow's cares right out of your mind
As the music draws you closer
And you fall under my spell
I will catch you In my arms now
Where the night can take us no can tell

All I need is
the rhythm divine
Lost in the music
Your heart will be mine
All I need is
the look in your eyes
Viva la musica
Say you'll be mine

Gotta have this feeling forever
Gotta live this moment together
Nothing else matters
just you and the night
Follow on the wings of desire
now the rhythm is taking you higher
No one can stop us from havin' it all
You are my heart......you are my soul

All I need is
the rhythm divine
Lost in the music
Your heart will be mine
All I need is
the look in your eyes
Viva la muscia
Say you'll be mine

Can you feel the rhythm?
Can you feel the rhythm?
Can you feel the rhythm?
Burning.....Burning

dilemma - training or barbecue? i honestly don't feel like training today. hmmm...we'll see later.

-thingy of the day: I really should redo my layout soon.-

Monday, March 14, 2005

Term 1's over already. 2+ months have gone by just like that. so far, i think the year has been quite favourable for me, in the sense that there have been many learning experiences and equally many new friendship opportunities.

one activity that presented both learning experiences and friendship opportunities was the judo camp which was mentioned several times in previous posts. throughout the 3 days and 2 nights, i learned way more than what i did in normal training. it was really tiring - not "after school-tiring", but really "dead tired-tiring", due to the multiple sessions of tough training. staying over at SJI was really fun too. there's nothing like spending long periods of time together to encourage team bonding. actually, i think it applies more for the SJI team since some CJC J1s won't be coming back. but still, CJC judo is really one of (if not THE) most funnest and united CCAs in the school.

speaking of bonding, there was supposed to be a 4-6 gathering today, but nobody organized anything, so it was called off. so sad. was really looking forward to seeing my classmates again. but oh well. there will definitely be other opportunities. which reminds me. 1T37 has a gathering this thursday. don't know if i can make it though. got training.

right now, there's absolutely nothing on my mind, except the aches in certain parts of my body. and that reminds me. there's still training tomorrow as well. whee.

-thingy of the day: Good men are like good parking spots. They're either taken or handicapped.-

Wednesday, March 09, 2005

There's something magical about how 3 months suddenly becomes 3 days. in 3 days' time, 1T37 will officially be going their seperate ways. i don't know...i feel quite mixed about this whole thing. i don't know if i'll see anyone in my future JC (or back in CJC), but it would be quite a surprise if any of us end up in the same class again.

nothing much is happening in the other aspects of my life. school is still school, but i find my drive diminishing. there's less motivation to complete tutorials, and more reason to skip lectures. i haven't actually done so yet, but still, the thought is tempting. remaining lectures for this week: maths, chem, econs. one for each subject. none appear to be skippable. maths and econs are because there are tutorials on the same day, and chem is because i want to be there. i don't know if i can throw my tutorials away yet, because the posting is not out.

as mentioned before, the major upcoming events in the next few days are tomorrow's class outing, and friday-sunday's training camp. i think i'm beginning to sound repetitive, right? shows the lack of excitement these days. hope something fun comes along real soon.

-thingy of the day: To learn all the things nobody taught you in school, go to SYW-

Sunday, March 06, 2005

Spending time with the judo team outside of training can be rather traumatic. example: the self-defence course organized yesterday. the guys of the team took it upon themselves to taupok me. i'm still feeling the after-effects. can't take a deep breath, or it hurts like crazy. i just can't wait for the 3-day training camp starting friday.

next week's week 10. for the non-singaporean, that means it's the last week of school. and for us, this means that our posting results will be processed and released at the end of the holiday break. with my results and my choices, i think i will most probably get into AJ as opposed to VJ. then again, i may end up wanting to come back to CJ again. after all, i'm familiar with the system there and already know some of the teachers. i think my main concern now is whether to take 3 or 4 a-level subjects.if i get into VJ, i know i'll have to do 4 for sure. but if i'm in CJ, i have the option to do 3 as well. i think it would be best if i stuck with my current combination, but i'm tempted to add physics as well. but there remains the worry that i won't be able to catch up quickly enough.

week 10 also means that 1T37 will be officially together for only a few more days. hopefully we'll still be able to meet up after we split. our class gatherings/outings have been successful so far, and i think they'll continue to be equally good. just like last night's barbeque. it was really fun, with all the various activities and all.

no use worrying now...i'll have to hand my fate up to the higher authority. still have lots of work left undone. will try to catch up.

-thingy of the day: 5 more days until holiday.-

Wednesday, March 02, 2005

My estimations were way too positive. after taking to VJ's SH-Chem, i think my chances are reastically 5-10%. even though she didn't say it out loud, i think she wasn't too interested in a purely academic appeal, even though it was based on her subject. oh well. i will still put VJ as my first choice, and hope for the best. if not, i guess an appeal is the last resort. something tells me i won't be successful, but still, it wasn't an outright "no", so i still have a chance.

but in VJ, i'll have to do 4 a-level subjects. considering adding physics to my existing list, but i'm not too sure if i can do all the catch-up work and still cope with lessons. my friends all say that the syllabus covered in the first 3 months is relatively easy and it shouldn't be too difficult to learn everything.

been absent from school for 2 days. oops. hope i didn't miss out too much. have to do lots of catch-up work, especially for maths and econs. if i'm lucky, nothing too intensive was covered during my absence.

it's time for an upgrade. my mp3 player's screwed, and the earphones are shot to hell. thinking of either an ipod (non-U2 version), ipod mini, zen touch, or zen micro. more inclined to the creative side though. zen micro looks better, and has better accessories, but zen touch has so much more space and longer battery life. tough choice. will decide by end of the week. also need to send my hard drive for repair. i've been meaning to do it since last september, but things came up one after another and prevented me from doing so. must send it for repair soon, also preferably before friday. with luck, all my data will still be there, including my mp3s. speaking of which, i have to send my hard drive to people who will...ask less questions. mp3s are now illegal after all.

have to go off soon. must consolidate material for the appeal. leaving you all with a song which seems especially meaningful during this period:

Leann Rimes - Life Goes On

Life goes on, life goes on, life goes on...

You sucked me in and played my mind
Just like a toy you would crank and wind
Baby, I would give til you wore it out
You left me lying in a pool of doubt
If you're still thinkin' you're the daddy mac
You should've known better but you didn't and I can't go back

Oh...life goes on, and it's only gonna make me strong
Its a fact, once you get on board say goodbye cuz you can't go back
Oh...it's a fight, and I really wanna get it right
Where I'm at, it's my life before me, got this feeling that I can't go back

Life goes on, life goes on, life goes on...

Wish I knew then what I know now
You held all the cards and sold me out
Baby, shame on you if you fooled me once,
Shame on me if you fooled me twice
You've been a pretty hard case to crack
I should've known better but I didn't and I can't go back

Oh...life goes on, and it's only gonna make me strong
Its a fact, once you get on board say goodbye cuz you can't go back
Oh...its a fight, and I really wanna get it right
Where I'm at, it's my life before me, got this feeling that I can't go back

Na na na na na life goes on, na na na na na made me strong
Got a feeling and I can't go back
Life goes on (and it's only gonna make me strong)
Life goes on and on and on...

Shame on you if you fooled me once,
Shame on me if you fooled me twice
You've been a pretty hard case to crack
I should've known better but I didn't and I can't go back

Oh...life goes on, and it's only gonna make me strong
Its a fact, once you get on board say goodbye cuz you can't go back
Oh...it's a fight, and I really wanna get it right
Where I'm at, it's my life before me, got this feeling that I can't go back

Na na na na na life goes on, na na na na na made me strong
Whoa, yeah
Got a feeling and I can't go back...
[Repeat until fade]
