monday was reasonably ok, with the COC parade (which i didn't participate in). it was pretty interesting, as it was the first parade i've seen to involve vehicles. as for the rest of the week, i was either rushing around until face green green, or being annoyed so much until face black black, literally, because i had to camo on again. as for the exercise itself, it was reasonably ok. my job wasn't that hard, but outfield is tiring, since you sleep 5 hours average per night. still, the exercise was completed with nothing missing, everyone intact and still functioning. as an added bonus, the new CO seems to think we did well, so that's good for us. only drawback to the whole thing is that i have several irritating ailments, such as close to (if not more than) 100 mosquito bites all over my body, most of them in uncomfortable areas, along with a few blisters and assorted other stuff. should clear up in a few weeks' time.
this weekend felt a bit more normal-paced than previous ones, though it was packed with activities. turf city, mahjong, getting rather drunk and a movie, all in one day. seems like my mahjong luck has improved a little, as i wasn't the biggest loser for once (though i still lost). oh well. one step at a time. next target, break even.
as for the movie, we went to watch Balls of Fury. despite great anticipation, it turned out to be a little short of my expectations. most of the jokes were rather lame, though there were genuinely funny bits. my final verdict? don't watch it unless you're really bored and need some brainless entertainment.
well, i think that's all for this rather brief post. the coming week should be slacker than the previous one (i hope and pray with all my heart). i highly doubt it though, what with the ops spec going for an operation and subsequent 6 weeks' medical leave, leaving 2 people to hold the fort for that time.
oh. one last thing. i heard this song a while ago, and thought i'd share it, because it's kind of meaningful.
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat, but always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance,
I hope you dance (dance), I hope you dance (dance)
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin’ might mean takin’ chances, but they're worth takin’
Lovin’ might be a mistake but it's worth makin’
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out, reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance,
I hope you dance... (time is a wheel in constant motion always)
I hope you dance... (rolling us along)
I hope you dance... (tell me who wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance... (where those years have gone)
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance,
dance (dance)I hope you dance (dance),
I hope you dance... (dance) (time is wheel in constant motion always)
I hope you dance...(rolling us along)
I hope you dance (dance) (tell me who wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance.. (dance)(where those years have gone)
(tell me (dance) who wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(where (dance) those years have gone)
