Oh glory, the weekend has finally descended upon us. ^_^

the sense of relief's overwhelming. even though i know i have to step into the building again an tuesday to face all the stuff they throw at us, at least i have a sense of serenity. for now. for that, i'm happy.

chung lee siang just threw us a ton of structured physics tys questions. i know it's for our own good, but i'd take mr. siau over her anyday. she's simply too...i don't know...overbearing? ah well...can't really blame her. she knows what's best after all. and i can't really argue; i need the practice. 25/50 isn't a very good score.

and the chem test. this is the one i want to scream about. 28/40. to some, it may be extra-good, to others, it may be normal. but to me, it sucks like a black hole. i was expecting a 35...ok...maybe not so high. but at least 32. darn. the worst thing is i lost to weiss by ONE mark. one lousy rotten festering decomposing decaying mark. gah.

then there's the maths test. the 40-minute-7-questions one. the one that the whole class was unable to complete. if this is counted for prelim, well, NYP or SP's the only option.

ahh...ca's in about a week's time or less. looking at my targets, i think i should be able to achieve them for about 5 subjects. and did i mention dm's lesson has become fun again? well, it has.

now to get away from school life. having generously donated my 7250i to a nice but dishonest cab driver, starhub has decided to reward me with a $100 voucher which can only be used to buy phones at retail price. for those of you who cannot detect a trace of unsatisfaction in the above 1-2 lines, this is what i actually mean: starhub is made out of conning asses who won't even pay a guy the full cost of a phone he's lost, even though it's near brand-new. oh well...i guess i can't really blame them. they have to make a profit somewhere after all. watch out darryl...the 6600's coming soon. ^__^

And i thought the worst-case scenario was falling sick for 3 months. suspension just made it to the top of the list.

dm was in pms-y mood today, probably because of the (lack of) money collected from cny donations. so he tells a story in the morning, then comes to class wearing the "dm" mask which he would usually shed for the "nice-guy chinese teacher" mask. but not today. he never took the mask off once, and started the lesson (if you call it a lesson) immediately. no greeting, nothing. he just started writing on the board about this chinese common test which we will have, and about outstanding homework. luckily i handed in one out of two, or i would have suffered andrew's fate - a suspension. this is the first time in my 3 years, 27 days, 23 hours, 06 minutes and 45 seconds in catholic high school that i've heard of people getting suspended from class. so after they went down to settle god-knows-what, i got down to doing the newspaper reporty thingy that was undone. then there was the ting xie after school, which i arrived late for and thus missed 4 words. it was...horrible, to say the least. i'm so gonna copy out everything 50 times...

and to make matters worse, i didn't know that there was a history test today. if i pass this, i'll do something drastic, like throw justin through the fire escape window or something. luckily i can cope with at least 5 out of 8 subjects...

~thingy of the day: Nothing today...unfortunately.~

Mondays. i tend to start the week off on the wrong foot. and no lame jokes about getting up on the wrong side of the bed, because the wrong side of my bed's facing the wall. ^_^

we got a trademark denis-type speech (as we always do on mondays). apparently, i can make it to vj if i increase my discipline (read: do maths at every free moment). but nobody in the class can make it to rj because our determination's only 7/10. but we might do it if it goes up to an 8.5 or so.

training was...training. another reason i hate mondays is because i can never really perform on the lanes. i have yet to find the reason why though. maybe i still need to adapt to coming to training after a long draggy boring day at school.

sometimes, i wonder if i should have volunteered to be retained. sec 4 life seems a little too much to handle at the moment, and i need to work on my foundations in maths and ss. but every time i ask myself that, i always say "no". sure it's tough now, but this is the worst it can get. things can only get better now...right?? of course, i could fall terribly sick and miss 3 months' worth of lessons and fall so far back that i crash and burn during the prelims and get sent to some poly for the first 3 months then get my o's result and find that i actually got into ite, but let's try not to think there, yes?

i suppose daryl phrased it best when he said that we're fighting an internal war. going from slack life to study-every-minute-of-your-life mode is a tough change, especially if you've been slacking since p4 or so. gah. too much complacency floating around me. i think that HBK's motivational talk wasn't that motivational after all. sure we were all "CHIONG AH!!!!!!!" when it was over, but that lasted for...15 hours max? i guess we don't apply what we learn that efficiently.

for some reason, i find myself attracted to the Soujirou smiley. you know, the one that goes ^__^...it looks so...cute. yes, i'm going off the deep end. maybe i should trademark it or something.

i realize that i'm still in need of a phone. but due to my expensive tastes, everything i set my eyes on costs more than $500. ah well. but there's this not-too-bad deal on a 6600 that i'm considering...

As you can see, there's been a layout change. now there's an items-that-you-can-give-me-to-make-me-really-happy list. i think i won't go any further on that point...^_^

i'm now friendster-compatible. it's amazing how ONE link has shown me over 20 of my primary school friends/classmates. the power of networking...i know people whom i never really knew now. oh well. now i'm considerably happier as compared to yesterday. ^__^

btw. I need testimonials. i know this sounds attention-seeking, but i really do. hopefully you guys are kind enough to spend 2 minutes writing one. thanks!! ^_^

Wednesday, January 21, 2004

Well...it's officially cny eve. i just had reunion dinner at my cousin's place. it's the first or second time we had a combined reunion dinner. quite fun.

the celebration in school was kinda fun, considering that this is my last year in the school. i guess i never really appreciated the fact that the school puts so much effort into a 45min or so performance. or the fact that we are allowed to come in our own clothes. i guess i also regretted skipping 2002's (or was it 2003's??) celebration. gah. whatever.

so...we were in class first, then this prc scholar (read :"chinaman") came in with a tray of ingredients to give a long draggy boring speech about dumplings, their history, their significance and all that other bs and to teach us how to make them. denis was rolling his eyes and telling the guy to hurry up. i actually pity the guy. if i had to go into a classroom to give a speech, and received the same response that my class gave, i would have probably threw the tray at someone or something. i admire that guy's tolerance. or maybe it was because there was a teacher in the room.

then we went off to the hall to sit through the concert/performance. there was a lion dance and the lions presented the VP with some funny scroll-thingies. my junior is multi-talented. a singer, dancer, bowler and speaker. wow. they did a stupid "legendary for aces" ripoff. it was so retarded it was actually funny. i supposed they bribed the audience in a way with the edible coins and such. then this prc scholar (again, "chinaman") played a long piano solo. and i mean long. too bad i didn't time it. finally the chinese orchestra and choir (sp?) did a combined performance. then when they said "jing tian biao yan dao ci jie su" (the performance ends here), the whole school cheered like mad. guess we were happy to be let off.

so after that, went off to safra toa payoh (i think) to play pool with terrence, paul and jonathan (i think...sorry, i really forgot his name, but i'll use "jonathan" for convenience). my pool skills really improved; at least i didn't throw face (much) in front of them. i played one match with each of them. i won jonathan, lost to terrence, and if i'm not wrong, won paul. i only lost to terrence as he was acting as a bloody poledancer. all tried to psycho me.

then went to orchard BK where we were supposed to meet more people. but it was a no-show, so i went back to j8 for MVC2. despite the HP button not working, i still pulled off 3 human victories and 1 computer victory. heh. gambit rocks.

Eve of the eve of CNY. they should have a name for that...evette?? ah whatever. according to terence, i'm pulling a shakespeare, ie. creating words of my own.

something happened today that really brightened my life up, even if it was for the 3 minutes. ms. chan, geog elec teacher, actually cared enough to give us a little cny token consisting of 2 stars and a motivational message. sure that seems insignificant compared to mrs. chaillan (once again, SHAY-lon) who gave personal messages to each of her music students, but remember that ms. chan has about 4-5 times the amount of students. all in all, it's the thought that counts. if i ever give a teacher this address, i'll 100% point them to this entry. ^_^

i think the worst of the tests are over. narrative (The Wait), ss, a maths and history. all gone. but on 09/02/04, there's gonna be yet another a maths test and a geog elec one as well. i know i'll pull through. i am a <HBK voice>chumpion.</HBK voice>

ever been in a rainforest? that's what the class sounded like for the cny decoration competition. they cut up files and stuck them to the blades of the fan. then put them to full blast. bloody rainforest. today, i found out that i'm not that streetsmart, according to denis. god knows what cny decorations have to do with streetsmartedness. oh well.

here's a happy cny in advance, and best wishes for the year ahead.

Friday, January 16, 2004

Man, i'm never doing the 100 random things again. the ideas just wouldn't come. but now that i'm done, i can think of so many things that could have gone in there. like my irrational fears and other stuff. oh well.

i just learnt one more thing today. you know that little tv that all comfort cabs have? DON'T WATCH IT. you'll get motion-sick and have a very uncomfortable ride (play on "comfort" intended).

school royally sucks. in my class, tension and dust are so thick they can both be cut with katanas. but i suppose it's all good, we might be changing class after the new year. lessons are monotonous (are there that many o's in that word??) with the teachers going on and on and on. there's no life in them. except for DM, mr leong and terence, the rest of the teachers are 999999/1000000 into the grave. lessons are basically greet, listen, answer questions, get notes, get work and the cycle repeats. but remember: bear with it with a heart and face of stone.

"Your principal maimed himself for you."

that was what terence said yesterday. he was actually serious. as Mrs. Chaillan (that's SHAY-lon for all the non-CHS students) informed us, HBK's got a severed nerve and tendon as well as a cut to his bone in the fourth finger of his left hand. all because he ws trying to get our attention. damn, he succeeded in making me feel guilty. as repayment to his sacrifice, i will get brainwashed by him for a year. i will tell myself that "I can, I can, I can!!" even if it kills me. i will do all the bs that he's asked us to do. just for this year.

another quote was "the broken glass that you have become cuts your parents' hearts." sometimes, after hearing a particularly long nag session, i thought that i wanted to be the broken glass just so that i can cut their hearts. i know i don't say this too often in public, but sometimes i hate them like poison. there. i said it. now lift the 1000 kg weight that's been on me for so long.

oh well. i guess i can save the angsting until after the o's. now, i shall bear with it and smile. ok, maybe not smile. more like bear with it and show a stone face.

Orientation today. not mine though. sec 1s get to choose the cca they will (hopefully) be in for the next 4 years. we lost an excellent bowler to the sports school. so sad. he could have had a great future in cat high bowling team. even though he is sec 1 this year, we had plans to make him captain when he became sec 4. but oh well. this year's sec 1s look...short. they're getting smaller and smaller each year. sometimes i wonder if some of them can even hold a 6 pound ball. ^_^

i was pretty impressed by some of the sec 2s today. even though they are pains in the asses most of the time, they were actually useful today, attending to the students and parents. if this keeps up, i have no worries letting them take over when the time comes.

i really can't stand the band's publicity stints. just go around the whole school to play. parade in front of the other cca stalls also. that's really going too far. as if having half the second floor wasn't enough. oh well. better not say any more. too many friends in the band. no offense guys. just wanna give excuse for (seemingly) poor recruitment stats.

my perfect maxim got scratched...it was my first spinner ball. v_v. some idiots can't tell the difference between soccer balls and bowling balls. but it'll be ok after a polish...which costs $40. i don't care much about the cash value of the ball...more like the sentimental value.

acting like spazzes with your captain and vice-captain is fun. you guys should try it sometime. imagine asking for 5 packets of chilli at macs. and shooting ice through straws. but the comic relief was great. this kinda thing only happens in the cat high bowling team and in cat high's 4-6.

i gotta finish up the journal soon. it's due wednesday, but i'm thinking of handing mine up on monday. then can concentrate on elec geog. so i have to photocopy the goal settings, and write about monday's , wednesday's and friday's training. well, monday's and friday's anyway. wednesday was more of a meeting. which reminds me: edit the minutes. i thought-hop a lot, and that's why i remember things out of the blue. and there's a certain jacket i need to return as well. oh boy. i seem to be owing people lotsa things recently.

also, there's new music here. i know it's been quite a while, but i keep forgetting to put lyrics up. so here they are now:

Wow...it's the SECOND DAY of school and 4-6 is already in semi-deep poo. this is basically what happened:

- Arrive in school to see everyone copying holiday homework.
- Bo liaoed a little and noted that it was 0716.
- After 5 mins, went outside, then went to David.
- "You know, everyone's gone for assembly already..."
- Whole class gets out and stands at stairs to plan next move, wasting 5 mins.
- Some BS suggestions, the we hear "School, sedi-ya (sp??)!!"
- Now we're really screwed.
- In the end, went and stood next to an art room on the 2nd floor.
- Lin Dan Wen, a newbie teacher, Bobby Yong and Lucy Fernandez passed by.
- Only Lucy asked us what happened, and she thought we were being punished.
- When almost all the classes went back, we went to face the teachers.
- But DM was busy, so Kee Yong took over.
- "Who does not have a watch??" Whole class raises hands.
- "This is the beginning of the year, so we'll leave it here. Don't ever let me catch you all again. Go back to class."
- Once out of sight, we started laughing like idiots.

there was a total of 5 free periods. 4 maths and 1 pe. how fun. just drifted around, and caught some interesting bits of conversation, namely:

- Sherman: What should my children's names be?
- David: Drums ad guitars
- Juliano: <censored>

i've said it before and i'll say it again, "Man, I love this class."

I know it's a little late, but i couldn't find another time to update. ooh...semi-rhyme.

the QT was...easier than expected. no questions on differentiation or identity proving. however, the log section made me cry. ok, so i didn't cry, more like lose confidence. i think i can get about...40+/60?? i'm really hoping.

when coming home from the QT, there was this mad bus driver. just because 3 of us tried to squeeze on a rather crowded bus (although how a bus can be crowded at 9am amazes me), he spent the entire trip muttering about kids and "mei jia jiao" my god. he must be getting senile. luckily i was worrying about maths and didn't say anything.

there was an ad on tv, showing a particular episode of ranma. it showed kuno and his gang acting as the Shinsengumi. how idiotic. sorry for the pointless thingy. just had to get it out of my system.

First day in sec 4. and the stress is piling up already. 3 teachers have already tried (rather successfully) to frighten us. and my science teachers are chung lee siang and lee liak phong!!!!! yay. both sciences A1. they're the next best choice now that mr siau and wang jiunn are not available. oh well.

my other subject teachers appear to be the same, except for a few (one) minor change(s). and that's eric wong, who takes over from kee yong in PE. denis leong has also taken the extra role of CME teacher, which means no more "huobao!!". how wonderful. but now, CME has a whole new meaning, namely Complex Maths Education, as i seriously doubt denis leong will take much time to instill morals in us when he could be burning formulas into our brains.

anyway, i doubt i'll be updating much, maybe once/twice a week? the sec 4 schedules are gonna be packed. especially when HBK expects you to bring the school to 12 and above in ranking. even then, some of my updates may just be stress-relievers or to just scream at nobody in particular.

i also have a request to make. i know this may sound a little odd, as well as give the impression that i want attention/publicity, but i would appreciate if anyone out there could just drop me a message from time to time. i have a very screwy charcter, in the sense that i need to know that people around still realize i'm alive. besides, i'm gonna need all the encouragement/moral support i can get to see me through this.

the a maths QT is in another...7h 38+ mins? oh hell. i have a...premonition(?) that i'm gonna fail, no matter how easy the paper is. sign of low confidence. oh well. i'll survive.

this is the first time i'm using angelfore to host my files, so if the video doesn't appear, please leave a message. thanks!!
